Lush and soulful, Hartford-based singer-songwriter Heather McLarney blends indie folk and pop with vintage influences and “a bit of twang.” Deeply introspective, her songwriting turns inward on experiences both intimate and universal—exploring connection and loss, self-doubt and resilience, family and memory, and our complicated relationship with the world around us. Her signature is the contrast: deep, hard-hitting lyrics wrapped in catchy pop melodies, bringing light and energy to even her most vulnerable subject matter.

Heather has released two full-length studio albums, Ghosts and Shadows and There to Be Found, both recorded with producer Asher Condit at Kingship Recording—first in Connecticut and later in Nashville, Tennessee. Building on the folk-pop foundation of her debut, There to Be Found reflects Heather’s continued evolution as a songwriter, vocalist and artist.

Heather’s music has earned repeated recognition within the Connecticut music scene. Analog Hype Machine describes her as “a singer/songwriter with something to say,” with the ability to “pen your new favorite song.” Connecticut music critic Chip McCabe selected Ghosts and Shadows as one of Connecticut Magazine’s “5 New Albums to Check Out” and among his top Connecticut albums of 2022. There to Be Found continued that recognition, earning a place among his Top 20 Connecticut Albums of 2024.

Heather has performed throughout Connecticut and Massachusetts at venues, festivals and songwriter events including Café Nine, Park City Music Hall, The Cellar on Treadwell, Hartford Taste Festival, Heartbeat Music Festival, Glastonbury Apple Harvest Festival, Pratt Street Sounds and the 21 Songwriters Music Festival.

Heather and her music have been featured on radio throughout the region, including WOW Radio, WHUS, WWUH and The Local Bands Show. She has also served as a guest host of the New Music Alliance Radio Hour, a weekly program showcasing original music from artists throughout Western New England.
